Governor Whitmer has revised her executive order pertaining to exposed employees and potentially exposed employees. Executive Order 2020-166 has been rescinded and replaced with Executive Order 2020-172.
The new Executive Order clarifies what is considered a symptom and describes in more detail how symptoms should be treated from an employer standpoint.
The updated verbiage is as follows: “The principal symptoms of COVID-19” are (i) any one of the following not explained by a known medical or physical condition: fever, an uncontrolled cough, shortness of breath; or (ii) at least two of the following not explained by a known medical or physical condition: loss of taste or smell, muscle aches (“myalgia”), sore throat, severe headache, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
MITA views this as simply a clarification, as no major changes were made. The entire executive order can be read here.
