Although no spring weight restrictions have been formally put in place yet, MITA is hearing from MDOT that they are monitoring their frost tube readings and that they are contemplating imposing weight restrictions as early as next week for essentially the souther half of the lower peninsula.
If you have equipment or materials you need to move in preparation for the upcoming construction season you may want to make those moves now rather than later when your efforts may be impacted by imposed state trunkline or county road weight restrictions.
MITA will you keep you informed of all imposed weight restrictions statewide as we are notified about them.
Also, remember that permits to move overweight loads and loads over 14-feet wide are suspended during the spring weight restriction period. In addition, axle limitations on seasonal routes are reduced to less than legal loadings.
