MITA along with many other business groups have been working diligently to stave off permanent MIOSHA rules concerning COVID-19. A public hearing was scheduled for May 26th as the next step in the process of implementing a permanent standard enforceable by MIOSHA safety officers. However, legislative leaders and the Governor have now reached a deal that eliminates this potential permanent standard. As part of the deal, the legislature will now have greater input concerning MI Department of Health and Human Services Epidemic Orders going forward.
It is important to note however that the temporary standard is still currently in effect until mid-October. MITA will continue tracking this closely in the event that workplace rules change during this period.
