The 2023 National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual spring campaign that encourages safe driving through work zones. Each year in the spring, National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is held to bring national attention to motorist and worker safety in work zones. This year’s theme, “You play a role in work zone safety. Work with us!” emphasizes the importance of motorists driving safely to ensure that we all work together to save lives in work zones.
To kick off the 2023 construction season, MITA, along with partners from the Michigan State Police, MDOT, ATSSA, and MIOSHA are hosting a National Work Zone Awareness Week news conference and public event to promote safety and to honor the workers, motorists, and families of those killed in work zones. Please join us to promote safety in our work zones. The NWZAW event will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, at the MDOT Bay Region Office in Saginaw, Michigan.
