MDOT Industry Forum: Houghton Lift Bridge Rehab CMGC Project – 04/28/25

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting an industry forum to discuss the upcoming CMGC procurement of US-41 and M-26 Lift Bridge over Portage Lake, in Houghton Hancock. This forum will provide an opportunity for potential bidders to learn about the project scope, procurement process and schedule.

Project improvements will include deck replacement of one fixed approach span, deck and substructure patching, replacement of grid decking on both levels of the lift span, partial cleaning and coating of structural steel including all structural steel on the lift span and select portions of the tower steel and approach span steel, structural steel repairs, pile cluster and fender repair, and electrical and mechanical upgrades.

MDOT anticipates issuance of a Request for Qualifications in May 2025 and award of a CMGC contract in July 2025.
