The recent Flint Water Crisis has brought to light the growing problems our underground infrastructure faces across the state. Due to a combination of the passage of time and a lack of investment, our underground sewer and water pipes are aging and deteriorating at an alarming rate. To bring attention to this problem, MITA’s Executive Vice President, Mike Nystrom, wrote an op-ed that was published in the Flint Journal yesterday. The op-ed was then circulated statewide via Mlive, which is affiliated with major newspapers in the following communities: Flint, Ann Arbor, Bay City, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Muskegon and Saginaw.
