Gov. Snyder is finalizing his proposals to repair Michigan’s ailing infrastructure and is expected to deliver a special message to the Legislature in the next two weeks outlining his plan.
MITA is hopeful that Snyder will offer a comprehensive solution to the state’s crumbling roads and bridges as well a renewed commitment to improve Michigan’s aging water and sewer systems. Early press reports suggest that the governor will propose new revenues to pay for the much needed long-term investment.
While the governor makes final preparations for the infrastructure message, MITA has jumpstarted its own aggressive grassroots effort, unveiling a mobile bad road and bridge I-phone application called “Danger on our Roads.” Drivers who upload the best pictures have a chance to win a $500 prize.
In addition, MITA has begun advertising on the FixMIRoads Facebook page, and within one week gained over 2,000 new subscribers. Staff would encourage you and your family to sign up as well and be part of the grassroots effort to lobby legislators for more road dollars.
