Establish A Grassroots Liaison & Educate Your Employees!

It’s hard to believe that it is now March, which means that in less than two months, everyone will have the opportunity to vote YES on Proposal 1 on May 5th. In an effort to make the most of the limited time left to prepare yourselves, your employees and the entire state, MITA is proposing that all member companies designate an individual on their staff to be the point person for grassroots efforts, a Grassroots Liaison of sorts. Giving this responsibility to a qualified and dependable member of your team will take some of the burden off of yourselves, while ensuring that all Proposal 1 participation and action requests are being handled, thereby guaranteeing that your respective companies are continuing to play an important role in the success of this campaign.

Grassroots Liaisons will be able to communicate with Mariam Robinson, Outreach Coordinator, as often as they need to, and they will be given information on a regular basis to share with your employees. This will be an excellent and efficient way to ensure that all information being shared is getting passed along to each and every one of your employees, particularly as May 5th gets closer and important election deadlines start to pop up. Some of the duties of a Grassroots Liaison could include handling the sticker order information for your company and making sure all of your employees understand the voting registration deadlines associated with the May 5th election, among other tasks. It is MITA’s hope that the role of the Grassroots Liaison will continue through May 5th and beyond and will help your companies stay even more connected with MITA and the work done on your behalf on a daily basis.

Mariam Robinson will keep a master database of all companies choosing to participate, which will include company names, Grassroots Liaison names, their work phone numbers and their work email addresses. She will use the database to regularly email the individuals with important tasks and information regarding the campaign, so it can then be shared with you and your employees. MITA anticipates that this will be a great first step in moving towards more grassroots activism to reach the very important industry goal on May 5th.

It is up to you to get in touch with her directly to let her know whom you are specifically designating to be your Grassroots Liaison. She can be reached at mariamrobinson@mi-ita.com or by calling 517-347-8336.
