HUGE MITA HONOR – Governor Snyder To Sign Historic Road Funding Package At MITA Headquarters

On Tuesday, November 10, Governor Snyder will sign into law the package of road funding bills that passed the House and the Senate on November 3. The official bill signing ceremony will take place at the MITA headquarters in Okemos.

November 3 was a historic day for the Michigan Legislature, but November 10 will be a historic day for the entire heavy/highway construction industry, as Governor Snyder takes those bills and officially signs them into law, legally securing much-needed investment in our roads and bridges.

This is a huge deal for each and every MITA member, no matter how large or small. It’s been a long and difficult battle, but the industry never gave up and never stopped fighting toward our goal. November 10 will be the culmination of nearly a decade of hard work and dedication.

It has been 10 years since MITA was established as the result of the merger between Associated Underground Contractors and the Michigan Road Builders Association. It has been 18 years since the state Legislature last passed a comprehensive long-term road funding plan. When MITA was established in 2005, the number one goal was to find a permanent long-term solution to the road funding problem.

The fact that the bill signing ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the MITA headquarters is a huge honor that the entire industry should be proud of.
