It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce the passing of James E. Hoffman, former Vice-President of Hoffman Brothers Excavating.
James served in the National Guard and was then drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the tank division from 1956 to 1957. He was stationed in Mainz, Germany. He returned to start his career at Hoffman Brothers Excavating, first working on fixing all the heavy equipment, eventually becoming Vice President. He volunteered countless hours for Kiwanis and Birchwood United Methodist (Charter Member) Church. He loved his classic car collection and boating on Goguac Lake.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A Henry Funeral Home located at 703 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lakeview/Urbandale Kiwanis or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
