In Memoriam Russell Joseph Sanches

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Joseph Sanches, owner/operator of Sanches Construction and an active member in the industry for more than 40 years.

Besides loving the work he did, Russ was an avid golfer, loved collecting cars, working on home projects, barbequing for friends and neighbors and enjoying a cold Miller Light with friends and family. Russ especially enjoyed watching his grandsons race motorcycles.

In 2018, Russ received recognition from the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame with the Richard C. Letts Community Service award in recognition of unselfish contribution to the community. Russ was a long time sponsor of youth and amateur sports. Whenever someone was in need, “no” was not in his vocabulary.

Russ is survived by his wife, Debra Denniston Sanches; daughter, Deborah Sanches (PJ) Edgecomb; grandsons, Perry Edgecomb and Connor (fiancée Sydney) Edgecomb; brother, Ben (Beverly) Sanches; sister, Theresa (George) Nichlas; mother-in-law, Maurine Thomas; sister-in-laws, Linda (John) Krieger and Denni Denniston Kraft; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, friends, and his special four-legged buddy “Chubba”.

There will be a private viewing and all are welcome at a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery, 6343 Delta River Drive, Lansing, Mich., 48906, on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. Masks appreciated.

There will be a celebration of life for Russ as soon as conditions allow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Sparrow Hospice of Lansing or the charity of your choice in his memory.
