In response to industry requests for statewide consistency MDOT has introduced a new communication tool it will use to disseminate information statewide.
The “Construction Advisory (CA)” will be distributed electronically and is intended to provide uniform interpretation of existing practices for the purpose of promoting uniformity in MDOT field operations.
The CA will not change current specifications, policies or procedures; it is meant to clarify current specifications, policies, and procedures. MDOT will continue to use the Bureau of Highways Informational Memorandum for communicating actual changes to such policies, procedures, or practices.
Each CA will be numbered, indexed, and dated with contact information pertaining to the subject. It is MDOT’s intent to have all CAs posted on the C&T Division website, with “search” capabilities in the near future.
MDOT plans to issue CAs whenever they receive a field issue or information that has statewide significance.
