Recently, the MITA Board of Directors voted to implement a new MITA Scholarship Fund as a way to give back and to promote the heavy/highway construction industry, but to also extend a helping hand to the next generation.
Scholarships will be awarded in June of 2016. To qualify for the scholarships, applicants should be pursuing a degree that would lead to a career in the heavy/highway construction industry.
All interested applicants should write a short letter to MITA stating why they are pursuing a career in the heavy/highway construction industry. Other helpful documents to submit include: a recent copy of the applicant’s transcripts, a resume detailing the applicant’s extracurricular activities, part-time jobs and community service, and a letter of recommendation from an individual not related to the candidate.
Applications should be mailed to the MITA Scholarship Fund at this address:
MITA Scholarship Fund
P.O. Box 1640
Okemos, MI 48805
Applications may also be emailed to MITA’s Outreach Coordinator, Mariam Robinson, at mariamrobinson@mi-ita.com. Please be aware that the deadline for applications to be received by the MITA Scholarship Fund is April 15, 2016.
We also welcome donations of all sizes to the MITA Scholarship Fund! The more members who contribute to the fund, the more up and coming students will be able to pursue a career in the heavy/highway construction industry with support. Scholarship donations may be written out to MITA, Inc. with MITA Scholarship Fund written in the memo. They may be mailed to the address listed above.
If you or an applicant have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact either Mike Nystrom, Executive Vice President, at mikenystrom@mi-ita.com, or Mariam Robinson, Outreach Coordinator, at mariamrobinson@mi-ita.com. They may also be reached at 517-347-8336.
