  • PSC Mention: The annual road funding shortfall is upwards of $3.9 billion in Michigan, according to the nonpartisan Lansing firm Public Sector Consultants. The group conducted a year of research assessing the deteriorating roads and bridges, concluding the annual funding gap was much bigger than estimated in 2016 ($2.2 billion).

MDOT Awards $2.9 In TEDF Grants To Fix Essential Rural Roads (MIRS, 12/5/24)

The Michigan Department of Transportation announced nine awards for the Transportation Economic Development Fund grants worth $2.9 million to help rebuild damaged essential local and county roads.

Ishpeming, Mason County Road Commission, Allegan, Bay City, St. Clair, Van Buren County Road Commission, Schoolcraft, Chelsea, and Tecumseh got a portion of the grant, the majority paid for 48 percent of the construction cost of the project.

There were two projects that didn’t get $375,000. Van Buren County received $100,516, which was 80 percent of their project. Schoolcraft, in Kalamazoo County, got $201,375, which was 50 percent of the project.
