Road Funding

Trump to Michigan: Comply with immigration, DEI orders or lose road funding (Bridge Michigan, 5/30/25)

  • MITA Mention: Because that formula is written into federal law, those funds are likely secure, said Lance Binoniemi, of the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, a trade group representing the construction industry.

But individual Biden-era transportation grants could end up on the chopping block — and any reduction in transportation funds “just exacerbates the problem that we already have in our funding,” Binoniemi said.

Bridges

Jackson County bridge closure highlights Michigan’s growing infrastructure problem (WILX, 6/5/25)

  • MITA Mention: Lance Binoniemi with the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, or MITA, says across Michigan, the issue is the same: aging bridges and roads with funding decisions needing to be made at the Capitol.

“We have over 100 bridges across the state that are in poor condition and need repairs,” said Binoniemi.

MITA is pushing for increased funding to take on infrastructure problems in the state through its Fix MI State campaign, urging everyone to act because infrastructure touches all parts of how we live and play in Michigan.
