As we begin to reopen a large part of the economy that was shuttered during the height of the COVID-19 crisis, there are still significant health measures and safety restrictions that will be around for some time. One of those is a firm restriction on the number of people who can gather together in one location. The most recent executive orders stated that gatherings of no more than 10 were permitted inside a building and then it was updated to say that gatherings of up to 100 are now permitted outdoors.
We anticipated having a lot of interest in this event and that the registrations would easily surpass the 100 person limit. Because of this, we have decided to cancel the MITA PAC Low Country Boil and Car Show that was scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2020. It pains us to do this, as 2020 is still an election year, and the need to participate in the political process financially is still there for the MITA PAC and the members. With that in mind, MITA PAC donations are accepted year round, and to those who had planned on attending and contributing, we sincerely hope that you will still consider a donation to the MITA PAC.
The MITA PAC is an important and necessary tool in our government affairs arsenal, particularly as we continue to have a strong need for dedicated infrastructure investment across Michigan. Unfortunately, elections continue to get more expensive with each election cycle, and this year will be no different with the presidential election in November driving up media costs for everyone running for political office. The industry needs representation and the ability to support candidates who understand the importance of prioritizing funding increases for our infrastructure throughout the state.
Contributions to the MITA PAC must be personal donations only. No corporate checks can be accepted, per Michigan’s campaign finance laws. If you are interested in contributing, you can do that online through a personal credit card by clicking on the blue link below, or you can download and fill out the attached form and send it to the MITA office with a personal check.
