With close to 20,000 in attendance, MITA played a key role exposing students to the various opportunities available in the construction industry at the 2012 Michigan YES (Youth Engineering & Science) Expo at Ford Field on November 1, 2012.
As a co-chair of the Michigan Design & Construction Coalition, MITA worked with the various partners of the coalition including ACEC/M, APAM, ASCE, LECET (Laborers), MCA, MSPE, OE324 to explain the process of construction from conception to completion. Students had the opportunity to hold actual construction materials including a bridge link pin and plate along with trying their skills at the controls of a simulated crane provided by the Operating Engineers.
MITA remains motivated to getting students excited and passionate about the many opportunities available in the construction industry.
