MITA is hosting The American Traffic Safety Services Association’s (ATSSA) training course entitled, “High Visibility Safety Apparel and Visibility in Highway Work Environments,” on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 8 a.m. This four-hour course was designed with a focus on proper use of varying types of personal protective equipment, or PPE, and is being offered free of charge under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Susan Harwood Grant Program. Other topics that will be covered include temporary traffic control situations that workers face as they work to stay visible to traffic while also completing the necessary tasks; interactive scenarios for participants to work through; innovative examples of PPE; and what the future holds for enhancing safety in the event of a work zone intrusion.
