After over three long years of hard work, aggressive lobbying and a historical number of extensions, President Bush finally signed into law a federal transportation reauthorization package that in the end brings Michigan an additional funding level of $240 million through September 30th of 2009. During the course of the law, Michigan’s rate-of-return will also ramp up to a minimum guaranteed rate-of-return of 92% by 2008.
You can now view the law in its entirety by clicking here.
Michigan specific information is now also available with regard to Highway High Priority Projects as well as the Local Agency Transportation Improvement Projects. To view or print this information click here.
The only Project of National Significance listed in the final law for Michigan was $20,000,000 for planning, design and construction of a new American border plaza at the Blue Water Bridge in or near Port Huron.
MITA will now shift gears and put forth a major effort over the course of the next couple years to increase our state’s investment in the transportation infrastructure system. We will be forwarding information to you with regard this important endeavor in the near future.
