With the recent warm temperatures and rainfall, MDOT has informed MITA that they are now monitoring frost depths statewide and that Spring Weight Restrictions could be imposed within the next couple of weeks. County road agencies are also monitoring frost conditions for implementing weight restrictions on roads under their jurisdictions.
If you have equipment or materials you need to move in preparation for the upcoming construction season you may want to consider making those moves sooner rather than later when your efforts may be impacted by imposed state trunkline or county road weight restrictions.
MITA will you keep you informed of all imposed weight restrictions statewide as we are notified about them.
Also, remember that permits to move overweight loads and loads over 14-feet wide are suspended during the spring weight restriction period. In addition, axle limitations on seasonal routes are reduced to less than legal loadings.
