WEBINAR: COVID Vaccinations and the Workplace – What Employers Need to Know
As COVID vaccines become increasingly available to the general public, employers are being confronted with a host of issues, such as:
· Can a workplace mandate vaccinations for employees?
· What type of documentation (if any) can be requested to show proof of a vaccine?
· Are there cases where an employee can decline to be vaccinated?
· If an employee is not vaccinated, what options are open to the employer?
MITA’s federal affiliate, the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), put together a webinar that answers these and other issues regarding COVID vaccinations. ARTBA is allowing MITA members to access the webinar. Employment Law Attorneys Phillip Russell and Dee Anna Hays of Ogletree Deakins are the presenters for the webinar, which also covers liability risks for employers when addressing workplace vaccination strategies.

Vaccinations for Critical Infrastructure Workers
In terms of the vaccine availability for the critical infrastructure industry in Michigan, the state has put the industry in the 1C category. It is estimated that this group will begin receiving vaccinations towards the beginning of May.
By clicking the link below, you can view the most up to date document that shows estimated timelines. As has been reported in the news, the state is focusing more on age rather than workforce. MITA continues to advocate for our industry to be included as soon as possible as our employees were amongst the workforce that continued the necessary work to build and maintain our state’s infrastructure throughout the pandemic.
