We’ve hit a roadblock! What is it? Currently, it is the Michigan Senate. The House of Representatives passed a 3.1B package of bills that now sit, as the Senate does little to nothing to respond or present a funding package that Michigan voters say is critical and needed. Jobs are on the line, and even our Governor recently stated that getting a long-term road funding plan done by the end of June would be the “ideal situation.” At the same time, the House continues to advocate for a response to their package of bills.
The following materials must be shared via social media outlets at your disposal immediately and constantly! Also, we know that many of your requests will be ignored, but the same effort must be made to contact your Senator and advocate for a long-term funding solution. The ask is as important as the meeting. Games are being played, and after 3 years of educating, the Senate seems to think this isn’t their issue even though 87% of voters want something done. MITA is on a mission to make this every lawmaker’s issue and will rally its resources when it comes to electing a future Senate.
For your information, the MITA FixMIState campaign has been in place for years and is the venue for promoting essential issues to the state and our members. Please follow and promote the site and related social media pages (FB & Instagram.) Pothole payback is also ongoing and an effort that keeps bad roads in the news, which could also use your continued sharing via media outlets.
Please include someone on your team passionate about funding and tell them not to get discouraged or give up until funding is passed. These materials will be used indefinitely, and the messaging will be modified as necessary.
