Why it matters: Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Michigan State University and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Michigan.
Greg has worked for the department for more than 20 years and brings a well-rounded background to the position with more than 10 years of managerial experience in a variety of roles:
• Served for the past three years as the Lansing TSC manager.
• Previously appointed as the manager of the Innovative Contracting Unit, as well as Lansing TSC construction engineer.
Greg has a track record of success:
• Establishing, fostering, and maintaining effective relationships with internal staff and key external stakeholders.
• Working closely with the communities he serves, their residents, businesses, and local elected officials to identify and address their specific needs.
• Delivering innovative solutions statewide through the Innovative Contracting Unit and at the Lansing TSC, like the M-100 bridge slide, and design-build projects on I-69 with the Marshall TSC and I-496 in downtown Lansing.
University Region ties: Greg began his career at MDOT within the University Region as a co-op student during the 1998 construction season. Over the years, he has worked in the Engineer Development Program (EDP), served as design engineer, assistant construction engineer, development engineer (out of class), construction engineer, and most recently as TSC manager. Either through design or construction, he can recount stories from working on almost every route in the region.
Greg replaces Demetrius “Dee” Parker, who was recently promoted to director of the Bureau of Development and deputy chief engineer.
