Presentations made to business leaders and local officials
Recently, MITA staff was featured at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Mid-Winter Legislative Conference held in Lansing. The audience consisted of a large contingent of local chamber of commerce representatives from across the state. MITA was also invited to speak at a recent luncheon of the Michigan Municipal League, which was made up of local government officials from throughout Michigan. At each of the presentations, MITA staff was given the opportunity to present in-depth information regarding our state’s road and sewer needs as well as options to fund improvements.
Michigan legislature given transportation update by MITA
MITA, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and members of the MDOT-initiated Funding Action Team hosted a half-day workshop for the 36 freshmen legislators, members of the House Transportation Committee and the House Transportation Appropriations sub-committee this week. The workshop allowed MITA and the participants from the Funding Action Team to discuss Michigan’s transportation needs in addition to various options for increasing funding and improving the overall system. This very informative event allowed legislators, who will impact the future of Michigan’s transportation construction industry, to ask questions and become better informed on the issues.
MITA works to build stronger relations with local government agencies
MITA staff has been making a concerted effort to build stronger relations with local government agencies such as the Michigan Municipal League, The County Road Association of Michigan and the Michigan Township Association. MITA has actively pursued improved relations with these important local government organizations and is looking for every opportunity to work with these groups to promote the mutual interests of road and sewer improvements across the state.
