ACTION REQUIRED: Heavy Construction Industry Could Face Major Tax Increase if MBT Proposal Adopted

As details begin to emerge on the business tax compromise plan embraced by legislative leaders and the governor last week, companies in the heavy construction industry could face as much as a 400-percent tax increase over their current liability. MITA staff have been working feverishly to get changes made to the proposed plan.

MITA would request that association members contact any legislators they have a relationship with to encourage them to address the concerns of the construction industry before supporting the proposed Michigan Business Tax (MBT) plan. A white paper on the subject can be downloaded by clicking here.

The Legislature could take up the proposal as soon as this week or next. Click here to download the conceptual agreement.
