The US Department of Labor’s (US-DOL) has issued an Executive Order (EO 13706), which implements paid sick leave requirements for new contracts with the Federal Government beginning January 1, 2017. Please note that it is MITA’s understanding that the referenced EO only applies to direct federal contractors, i.e. contractors who have a contract directly with a federal agency (e.g. HUD, DOD, EPA, etc.).
MDOT let projects are not direct federal contracts, as the contract is with MDOT and USDOT/FHWA are simply the keeper and distributor of the monies via the federal-aid program/process.
