Help Us Grow A Talent Consortium For The Marshall Plan For Talent

MITA is working hard to secure a grant for over $700,000 to start a heavy equipment class in four high school districts across the state, and we need your help! Regions in the state include Copper County (Upper Peninsula), Gaylord, Lapeer, and Oakland counties. Each Construction Technical Education center in the named regions will receive a simulator (to permanently remain with the school) and two pieces of heavy equipment that will travel to each district where the students can train.

If your company is located in any of these locations, we need you to be a part of a Talent Consortium that will bring together businesses, educators and community organizations, as well as other key stakeholders. The Marshall Plan for Talent is a grant offered through the Governor’s office with the intention of closing the talent gap at the high school level. This class will be set up to introduce high school students to heavy/highway construction specifically.

Please contact Ken Bertolini, MITA’s Director of Workforce Development, at 517-449-0155 or at kenbertolini@thinkmita.org, if your company is interested in being a consortium member for the Marshall Plan for Talent grant.

If interested, responses are needed by Tuesday, March 12, 2019.
