It has recently been brought to MITAs attention that not all contractor inquiries are being submitted through the e-Proposal website.
As you are aware, MDOT has been requiring the use of e-Proposal for contractor inquiries for several years. This automated system eliminates potential inquiry errors (i.e. incorrect contract ID or email address) and it is used by MDOT to ensure all bidders get the same response and as a tracking tool to monitor the timeliness of responses provided.
MDOT has reported that this year approximately 18% of the contractor inquiries (Trunkline and LAP) do not come in through e-Proposal. This is problematic and MDOT has recently instructed their project managers to only answer inquiries that are submitted through the MDOT e-Proposal website.
Reminder, to make an inquiry through e-Proposal:
- Log into the MDOT e-Proposal website.
- Select the letting date and item number of the project you are inquiring about.
- Click on the Project Manager’s name and an email will be generated to the Project Manager with the project information populated in the subject line.
- Enter your detailed question with a reference to the proposal page and/or plan sheet number as appropriate and click ‘send’.
