The fact that MDOT implemented a new internet based transport routing and permitting process on May 9, 2011, should not be news to any MITA member by this time. Users of MDOT’s previous automated permitting process were notified of the implementation date and provided detailed instructions for accessing the new internet based system. The new internet based permit process, MiTRIP (Michigan Transport Routing and Internet Permitting System), is accessed through the Michigan Business One Stop (MBOS) portal for state government business services.
As with any new automated internet process the first days using the MiTRIP system were rough ones as many users worked through the MBOS registration and MiTRIP navigation.
For your information MDOT has provided the following resource documents:
MiTRIP Internet Access Overview
MiTRIP Single Trip Permit Applications Guide
MiTRIP Extended Permit Applications Guide
