On January 25th, 2023, MDOT released a Contractor Announcement notifying contractors of process changes for the 2023 April bid lettings. The announcement (found here) stated that MDOT will not be providing the Eligible Bidders List or a financial rating with the work classifications (but they will provide a financial range). Since that announcement, MITA has received numerous emails and calls expressing concern(s) about the April pilot letting and potential implications the changes have.
MITA has communicated our industry concerns with the proposed pilot to Acting Director Wieferich and a follow up meeting with MDOT leadership is being planned. We will keep the membership informed as the conversation progresses.
