Biden administration proposes new heat regulations for workers (WILX, 7/2/24)

  • MITA Mention: Millions of people in the US have seen heat advisories in the past month. Greg Brooks of Michigan’s Infrastructure and Transportation Association (MITA) says during Michigan’s heat wave, road construction continued.

“No pause in construction; unfortunately, our work season’s so short we can’t take time to just stop work when it gets hot,” said Brooks.

“Making sure that every employee is hydrated. There’s always going to be extra rest times; we’re going to make sure that everybody’s staying properly hydrated. I’m sure the way that mandate is going to come down is it’ll place the burden of regulation on Michigan’s OSHA,” said Brooks.
