Operating Engineers Ratification of Table Agreement for Underground Construction: Delayed until September 9th
The Operating Engineers ratification meeting for the recently negotiated agreement between MITA and Operating Engineers, Local 324 for underground construction will not be held until September 9, 2010. Although the leadership of the union does anticipate an affirmative ratification, this delay does cause a slight wrinkle in how wages and fringes are to be paid until that time.
Please continue to pay the wages and fringes for operating engineers on all underground construction per the agreement that was set to expire August 31, 2010. Upon ratification by the union, wages and fringes will be paid based upon the new agreement for all hours worked beginning the first full week in September on a retroactive basis.
This should not cause any problems with your company’s bookkeeping processes because under the terms of the agreement, the $1.10 increase is to be appropriated fully to the pension contribution and therefore will not likely be calculated until the end of the month.
