Use The Final Three Weeks of Lame Duck To Reach Out!

Immediately following Thanksgiving, the Michigan Legislature will have exactly three weeks in which to finish state business before the holidays. At the top of the list is road funding. The Michigan House of Representatives must now take up the Senate-passed version of HB 5477 and pass it with enough votes to send to the Governor’s desk for signing into law.

MITA is strongly encouraging ALL members to use this opportunity to contact their state representatives regarding the road funding issue. Their support is paramount to seeing this legislation passed into law before the end of the year. In order to assist you in making the most out of your efforts to contact your state representatives, MITA has compiled a 2-page document of concise talking points.

This document highlights the positive impact road funding will have on the state. It also addresses the concerns that many legislators have of the industry being unable to handle an influx of funding. Lastly, it highlights the key points of the legislation the Senate passed a week ago.
