New Tax Plan Emerges in State House
MITA is looking for volunteers in the different disciplines including road building, underground, suppliers and services to help us determine what is the best tax plan for our membership.
A previous bulletin posted on this web site a few weeks ago asked MITA members to calculate their tax liability based on a simple excel spreadsheet. You can download the NFIB tax calculator by clicking here.
In addition to this previously-posted calculator, a new plan is emerging in the House which would create a tax on income of 6.95 percent in addition to a .488 tax on net worth. This plan has not yet been added to the previous calculator, but you can calculate the effects of this tax plan by downloading the details here.
Feedback from MITA members will allow us to engage in the debate on business taxes and lobby for the plan most beneficial to our membership. If you run the calculations for your business, please e-mail Mike Nystrom or Keith Ledbetter and let them know of your results.
There is a lot at stake in the upcoming debate and we want to ensure that we represent your best interests in the weeks and months ahead.
If you have any questions, please contact Mike Nystrom, Vice President of Government & Public Relations at mikenystrom@mi-ita.com or Keith Ledbetter, Director of Legislative Affairs at keithledbetter@mi-ita.com, or call the MITA office at (517) 347-8336.
