MITA is seeking companies to nominate foremen or crew leaders who have been free of at-fault utility strikes for 2 or more years. In today’s construction environment—where crews are working around increasingly congested underground infrastructure—that’s a milestone worth recognizing.
Avoiding utility strikes over that stretch of time doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a leader who holds the line on planning, communication, and crew expectations—every shift, every job. MITA wants to put a spotlight on those individuals.
Recognized leaders will receive a MITA shirt and be featured in MITA’s social media and magazine. Beyond that, MITA would like to sit down with each of them—briefly, in the field—and ask a few questions about what’s worked. Topics might include pre-job planning, potholing procedures, communication with crews, and how they’ve built a damage prevention culture on their jobs. The goal is to share real-world insight with the broader industry.
The recognition visit will be coordinated around your crew’s schedule, with minimal disruption to ongoing work.
If you have someone who fits the bill, reach out to Greg Brooks at gregbrooks@thinkmita.org or Matt Moody at mattmoody@thinkmita.org. MITA would like to recognize the people who are doing it right.
